Makna Simbolik Tradisi Hantauan dan Bekhajak’an pada Suku Ogan
Abstract
This research aims to describe the symbolic meaning of the hantauan and bekhajak'an traditions of the Ogan tribe in Gunung Tiga Village, Ulu Ogan District. This research uses symbolic interactionism theory which includes mind, self, and society. With a qualitative descriptive research type, with in-depth interview data collection techniques and source triangulation to check the validity of the data. The results of the research found that the hantauan tradition is a way of inviting the people of Gunung Tiga village when carrying out small alms such as prayer, thanksgiving, salvation by sending antau craftsmen to the houses that will be invited to convey the invitation message verbally. The tradition of bekhajak'an in the Gunung Tiga village community is used as a way of inviting large charity events such as weddings which are carried out by the parents of the bride and groom by traveling from one house to another within a period of 3 weeks - 1 month before the wedding. The hantauan and bekhajak'an traditions are a culture that is still preserved by the people of Gunung Tiga Village, Ulu Ogan subdistrict, which means respect for those invited, togetherness, kinship, and cooperation in carrying out a charity event. In this research, the author also found a series of events at weddings in Gunung Tiga village, namely Ngadap, nuhuti rasan, ngantatkan ibat, melangai, ngumpulkan apit jurai, Lamaran, melunggokkan Adik sanak, and Sedekah.
