One of the challenges of Indonesia as a maritime country is the phenomenon of abrasion disaster that occurs due to tidal waves and water flow (sea, beach, and river). A real example that occurs is in the Deli River Flow, Medan Marelan District, Medan City, North Sumatra. This is exacerbated by the lack of public knowledge about river abrasion disaster mitigation and disaster management efforts. The purpose of this research is to provide an overview of the communication used by the Medan City Regional Disaster Management Agency in providing river abrasion disaster mitigation education. The research method used is a qualitative research method with a case study approach, the data collection techniques used in this research are observation, interviews, and documentation, and the data analysis technique used is the technique proposed by Miles & Huberman, namely data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results of this study show that the Regional Disaster Management Agency of Medan City actively educates the public through socialization activities, with regular coordination with various related agencies, as well as working with the Medan City Government and BMKG Medan City, and creating collaborative ties with various volunteers and private communities that are strengthened by training involving the community and utilizing technology in disseminating information.
